Jacques comes for the 6th time in Rodrigues and wants his young friend Christophe to discover tropical fishing. As an ex pro fisherman in Boulogne, he now owns one of the best fishmongers in France. We are off for a 60h on the Eastern Bank. Sea is rough, with a strong current frontward and we arrive just before the sunset after catching a yellowfin tuna about 20kg and 2 nice dorados. The current over 2 knots, doesn’t enable us to fish well (jobfish, trevallies).
The next day, after releasing a sailfish about 40kg, we unhook a small black marlin about 100kg and nice yellowfin tunas! Sharks crunch a few more… leaving us some of them. When luck is bad…! Activity will be nice with yellowfins all along the morning of the 3rd day. The biggest tunas were between 20 and 22kg, all well calibrated. When luck has come…! Marlins’ boulevard didn’t give anything on the way back. Let’s come back in 2 days time on this bank… with 2 other anglers for 60hours!
