Bruno (Gabon), Jean Guy & Michel (France)
For the 6th following year, our ex world record man and IGFA representative in Gabon, Bruno teams up with Jean Guy and Michel. Sea is glassy on Hawkins except on the first day. These 3 mates have especially equipped themselves with heavy spinning tackle for both of those 89h trips on Hawkins. Ripple Fisher and Valley Hill rods with Shimano 30000 reels. They try to have it both ways: heavy spinning and jigging.
They were perfectly right! Returns on investments were quick: 18 yellowfin tunas with an average of 30kg including 2 of 55kg and 51kg. Emotions and thrills are guaranteed with these jigging rods during fights less than an hour. Other nice pieces of fish complete this tableau with a 40kg sailfish, 3 giant trevallies between 15 and 25kg, among which only 2 of them could have been released in excellent conditions, a jobfish of 13.5kg, a big leopard grouper, some red snappers, crimson job fish etc.… By contrast, jigging was much harder, even if Bruno caught a yellowfin tuna of 35kg.
THIS TRIP WAS EXTAORDINARY with almost only very nice. 3 times average weight Another kind of record! What may hold the second trip?
