Bruno (Gabon) Jean-Guy & Michel (France)
Encouraged by this 1st trip on Hawkins, our 3 mates go back more motivated than ever. Bruno still had the dream to catch “HIS” Black. As a matter of fact, his friends usually caught them right in front of him! Activity is very good with yellowfin tunas on the first morning (with an average of 25kg to 30kg) heavy spinning and a 45kg doggy jigging by Bruno. The afternoon and night were very quiet then.
The following day, activity is not as good as the other days. Except a wreck were dorados and wahoos are concentrated around. In the beginning of the afternoon, while catching 2 small yellowfin tunas within a chase, a marlin came around and left with one of both tunas on catalina. At last Bruno could catch his black marlin about 160kg. Hey Bruno, mission is completed! At sunset, Jean Guy could get by, catching a 50kg dusky grouper baiting on his Stella 30000, new club record!
The third day sets off quickly with a sailfish released by Jean Guy, a 40kg yellowfin tuna and a 2nd black about 110kg (but Michel’s very first one). A nice range of fish was caught jigging: red coral trouts, red snappers, blue trevallies, jobfish come and complete this day.
On the way back, at sunrise, Jean Guy releases a blue marlin estimated 80kg. With 3 camcorders aboard, Michel has enough to make a great souvenir movie with numerous underwater and “air” shots. Let us meet in the end of February 2015 then. It will be your birthday Michel!
