Gladiators’ Team Pierre & Philippe France
These 2 anglers used to RFC, match up for the very 1st time. Pierre is fan of La Rochelle whereas Philippe largely supports the ASM Clermont Auvergne, 2nd and 1st at TOP 14. It is sure to be exciting!
2 long banks are scheduled. Sea is rough in this season beginning, and only let us go for a 34h and 2 one-day trips before an 82h in the East. This 34h around Rodrigues reveals a nice activity and specially on trolling – with numerous and nice yellowfin tunas and wahoos – and also bottom fishing… to take a rest!
The 82h on the Eastern Bank was definitely the high time of the trip with a wonderful rise of wahoos (33kg for the biggest) and a high density of yellowfin tunas (36kg for the biggest). Bottom fishing, sometimes until 10.00PM, these 2 gladiators improve the record of species caught within 8 days with 33 varieties.
Pierre fought, by night, for longer than an hour, a bull shark estimated between 150 and 200kg before it recovers its freedom by the boat.
The way back on Marlin’s Boulevard is somehow the apotheosis of the trip. Pierre catches a blue marlin about 150kg environ whereas Philippe fights a black marlin on live bait. As a matter of fact, Philippe was fighting a yellowfin tuna before this one had been swallowed by a greedy black marlin!
We need to go as far as October 2014 to see such a nice activity! We do not get tired!
