– 30 species in 4 days –
A quiet sea was required to gather 2 jiggers from Reunion (Tof & Fabien) and 2 non-jiggers (Maurice & Andre). In fact, it was the continuity of the previous trip with chopped sea and harsh wind… like a washing machine on spinning mode.
The 82h on the Eastern Bank changed for a 58h + 15h around Rodrigues. However, alchemy operated ! Jiggers caught lots of small pieces and non-jiggers caught lots of small pieces as well.
Out of the first 3 days… no doggy at all : neither small nor big !
Jigging : numerous red coral trouts up to 15kg, small dogtooth tunas (the 4th day), nice jobfish, trevallies, etc…
Trolling: 2 sailfish including one released, small yellowfin tunas, a few wahoos and a big barracuda.
Live baiting was very much compromised because the numerous sharks. Some of them were caught between 50 and 80kg then released.
In the end, these 4 musketeers caught up to 30 different species, which is a new record for our club… May this comfort ourselves !
