Jean Michel & Jean Jacques: Tunisia, Denis: Reunion Island and Maurice: France
Wonderful weather for this 82-hour trip, on the Eastern Bank. A few yellowfin tunas and wahoos are caught trolling before 2 big doggies are eaten sharks on baiting. At night bottom fishing, sharks are still present and do not even let heads being caught! Though, Papy Jean Michel will catch a white tip sharks between 80 and 100 kg, and then release it. The following day is a copy/paste of the previous day: a few yellowfin tunas and wahoos trolling, but on live bait… we are being eaten up by sharks… too many sharks! On the morning of the 3rd day, we catch some nice yellowfin tunas, trolling, and Jean Jacques releases a small blue marlin, between 80 and 90kg.
A heavy rain and harsh wind make us leave the bank at noon. Disadvantages have their advantages… we meet a beautiful wreck, where we catch 19 wahoos and 3 dorados.
At night, we hide behind Coco Island, in order to be right on the fishing spot on the following day… Some doggies and nice yellowfin tunas between 15 and 20kg are caught trolling. Then Denis catches a black marlin about 150kg within 30 min. Our National Maurice ends up the day with 35 kg dogtooth tuna, on live bait.
All ingredients are reunited to make this 82h an excellent trip. This French/Tunisian/Reunion team has then taken appointment for next year!
