Hendrik and Henry came in December. They took advantage of a day OFF in our schedule to make Dereck, their friend for 30 years now, to discover Rodrigues. The weather conditions force us to remain around the island, where activity is low on the first 2 days with a night aboard. The only big fish unhooked.
We only find activity on the 3rd day Westward in heavy rains! Numerous yellowfin tunas between 15kg and 31kg come out for this last day on “heavy spinning” combos. Doggies, wahoos, dorados, jobfish, trevallies, red coral trouts and red snappers complete the trip. Henry had brought back our series of “special Black Marlin” lures, made up at BIG T in South Africa. These lures confirmed our hopes by catching yellow fins and a sailfish (the only billfish of the trip, caught by Hendrik).
We really admire how fit Hendrik, 67 years old, and Dereck, 75 years old, are, taking into account the rough weather conditions. Even if they are used to go fishing on their own boat in South Africa. But that still is!
