Marc, Alain, Chakib and Corinne – BGFCF
The weather is not great for this 1st trip of 58 hours and we stayed around Rodrigues. Activity is so-so, trolling, with some beautiful wahoos 25 kg the biggest… but very nice in slow and fast jigging with 22 varieties of fish within 3 days.
The 2nd 70h trip on the Eastern Bank will bring to 31 the number of species caught by this great team within 6 and a half days… new club record over this period. The record is 33 species over 8 days.
Very nice rise of Giant Trevallies with a dozen released, including the biggest of 25kg by Marc.
Chakib sets the new club record for the dogtooth tuna in slow jigging, with a 31 kg fish on 18/100 braid.
Trolling was good with pretty yellowfin tunas – 37kg the biggest and wahoos 30kg. From the very beginning, Chakib had announced that he was lucky… which was actually true!
The weather conditions were perfect for Corinne who made a beautiful wahoo.
We ordered new fast jigging rods from Alain Ferrand (Black Hole) and they perfectly passed the tests. Assembled with Shimano Stella 14000 reels, these sets weigh 980gr and combine power and lightness. Pure happiness! Just like the atmosphere of this 100% BGFCF team.
