Jean Paul, Mathieu, Delphine, Hugo, Zoé, Baptiste & Valentin – France
«Training prevails over action».
In Mars 2016, Jean Paul and Mathieu wished to come back fishing with Yann, for the 3rd time. But this time, they bring their children with them. 3 of them are under 11 years old. Records in Small Fry feminine and masculine categories (under 11years old) are still vacant. It is almost possible to catch the world record with a 2 or 3 kg dogtooth tuna! The problem is that we do not choose how much the fish will weight… We must catch it on one’s own. Therefore, our 2 young anglers train in the family playground.
Weather forecasts are excellent and activity is good. This first day is hard. Training carries on with wahoos, dorados and bottom fish. Big strikes of doggies and shark are unsuccessful. Kids are “harnessed”, rods in position, ready to fight.
It is only on the 2nd day that Zoe catches a dogtooth tuna of 16.5 kg within 08 min, trolling on a green mackerel Rapala Xrap! Congrats Zoe, you’re a champion!
Baptiste will wait until the end of the afternoon to catch a 9.5 kg doggy within 11 minutes, still trolling on a red and white Rapala Xrap. Congrats Baptiste, you’re a champion!
Both of those records are submitted to IGFA homologation. Answer on February 2017…
There is only one day left to other anglers… and fish! Nice yellowfin tunas (28kg for the biggest) and wahoos (38kg for the biggest) as well as red snappers and jobfish will beautifully complete this great trip!
Valentin – 8 years old – still has time to experience and perhaps break up his cousin’s world record! Hugo – 13 years old – still has a few years in front of him in the Junior category… However, this was a trip with great souvenirs… and marvellous dreams!
